Safety Floor Plan for Dance Classes at Evergreen Cultural Centre, Coquitlam

Dance Classes at Evergreen Cultural Centre, Coquitlam in Studio A - Covid 19 Health & Safety Plan (UPDATED NOVEMBER 20)

Effective November 20, 2020

Weekly One-Hour Classes in Studio A

Masks - most wear masks for classes!

  • Wearing a non-medical cloth mask or face covering will be required in the class because it can help protect you and those around you.

  • Do take off your mask if you experience dizziness or a shortness of breath while wearing it.

About the Classroom

  • We are limiting the number of people in our classes to meet safe physical distancing requirements. All the students must pre-register for all classes.

  • There is one set of doors for entry and exit. Participants for the second or third class will wait on the distancing markers until the previous class has exited before entering the room.

  • The floor in the studio has been taped out in 2.5m x 2.5m squares for singles classes and 2.5m x 5m rectangles for couples classes.

  • The studio has a dedicated air handling system that circulates outside air into the room.

  • There is one washroom dedicated just for studio users.

  • Alberto and Teresa will oversee participants entering and exiting and throughout the class to make sure people maintain physical distance.

Upon Arrival to the Class

  • For the first class only, a registration table will be placed outside the doors to Studio A. Participants will approach the table, one person or couple at a time, and complete any registration requirements.

  • Participants are asked to SELF-ASSESS before coming to each class:

    • Are you or anyone in your household experiencing symptoms of COVID-19?

    • Have you or anyone in your household been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or has been asked to self-isolate?

    • Have you or anyone in your household traveled outside of Canada in the past 14 days?

  • Anyone answering YES to any of the above questions will not be permitted to enter.

  • Please wait outside and maintain a distance of 2 meters (6 feet) apart until it is time for you to enter the room. Distancing markers are provided on the walkway. Dress for the weather!

  • Please sanitize or wash your hands before your class and after your class. At the entrance we will have a table with hand sanitizer.

  • Once you enter the room, go immediately to an open square.

  • Instructors and participants will maintain physical distance of 2 meters (6 feet) during class time – no handshakes, hugs or high-fives!

  • Change your shoes and put your belongings in designated areas. Minimize the amount of belongings you bring with you. Do not forget to bring your water with you.

Class Times

  • Classes will be a maximum of one hour long to limit the amount of time participants spend indoors near people not from their household or family bubble.

  • There will be a 10-minute break between each class to allow participants to enter and exit safely, as well as to allow time for cleaning and sanitization between classes.

  • Participants staying for more than one class may use the break to use the washroom or refill their water before the next group of participants enter.

  • After your class has finished, please collect your belongings and leave the studio as quickly as possible since there will be students waiting outside for the next class.

Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocols

  • Hand sanitizer will be provided for participants to use at the entry door.

  • All high touch surfaces will be cleaned before and after all classes. This includes but isn’t limited to, door handles, taps, soap and towel dispensers, and toilet handles.

Contact Tracing and Reporting Illness

  • Participant information gathered during class registration will also be used for contact tracing to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

  • Contact information will be made available to the Evergreen Cultural Centre and to Public Health Authorities, if requested.

  • Contact information of all participants will be kept for a minimum of 30 days.

  • Participants experiencing symptoms of illness during class will be asked to go home immediately and contact 8-1-1 for further instructions.

Evergreen Cultural Centre Policies

  • The Evergreen Cultural Centre COVID-19 Safety Plan can be found here: https://evergreenculturalcentre.ca/covid-19-response/

  • The Evergreen Cultural Centre requires all user groups to create their own safety plan that meets or exceeds the facility plan.

  • The Centre is responsible for ensuring that groups follow the safety plan they have created. Evergreen staff will conduct onsite check-ins and work with clients to adapt and improve safety protocols as needed.

  • Clients and participants unable or unwilling to follow safety guidelines may be asked to leave and risk having their program or event cancelled.
